CHARLES TOWN, West Virginia (SmallTownPapers) -- Marcus John Rutherford, Sr., 80, of Bolivar, died Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Shenandoah Center in Charles Town.

Born July 25, 1930 in Bolivar, he was the son of the late Richard H. Rutherford and Emma Ballenger Rutherford.

He was a retired machinist with Mack Trucks, Hagerstown, Md. He was of the Methodist faith. He was a member of U AW Local 171, Hagerstown.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lucy A. Rutherford, at home; one daughter, Susan Pier-son, Charles Town; two sons, Johnny Rutherford, Harpers Ferry and Randy Rutherford, Kear-neysville; two sisters, Mary Rose Fadely, Martinsburg and Doris Stotler, Charles Town; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.

Services will be held today, Wednesday, September 15 at 11 a.m. at the Fairview Lutheran Cemetery, Bolivar. Rev. Douglas Fraim will officiate.
