SHELTON, Washington (SmallTownPapers) -- A Tuesday house fire on Arcadia Road is under investigation.

At approximately 3 p.m., the back bedroom of a house located at 6571 SE Arcadia Road was found on fire when the homeowner arrived.

Tomi Giles reported the fire to which Fire District 4 responded.

"We had it under control probably within 20 minutes of our arrival," Assistant Chief Greg Seals said.

Seals said the majority of the house suffered only smoke damage, since the fire was contained to the back bedroom.

Seals said no one was home at the time of the fire and no injuries were caused by it.

"I just want to give a strong thank you to the volunteer force that showed up," Seals said. "We had an engine company from station 58 in the city, district 13 and Mason County Medic 1 all respond. There were 17 firefighters on the scene and they were predominately volunteers."

Seals said there are currently 29 new volunteer firefighters going through initial fire-fighting training.

The cause of the blaze is still under investigation by the fire district. Seals said the Mason County Sheriffs Office is also investigating the fire.

As of press time, Mason County Sheriffs Office Chief Deputy Dean Byrd was not available for comment.
